How to make hair straight and soft looking with just hair straightener and conditioner or cream?

First off I know NOTHING about hair.. lol funny because I want to be a hair stylist, I love hair. I search a lot about how to get your hair soft and straight and people always have these huge lists of products they use in their hair and blow drying AND straightening.. I think that's too much work.. I want to know is it possible I can just straighten my hair [I have the Revlon hair straightener it cost me 16$] and have a really good conditioner or cream? [Not the conditioner that's in shampoo] that gives it a soft and straight look. Usually because I haven't had conditioner [Again, Not in my shampoo I mean like a bottle full of conditioner] So I straighten my hair without adding anything on it and it's straight but the ends aren't very straight they are more like straight and wavy at the tip of the hair. I want it to be super straight down.. I don't want to put too much in my hair and I'm cheap so I don't want to buy so much products ;\ any advice? Sorry if I'm confusing like I said before I know nothing about hair.. I just want a simple way to have my hair straight and looking soft and silky just by using a straightener and conditioner/cream to put in my hair.
